Your sentence with "darse un atracón" is correct in colloquial speech.

"Tragar" means to swallow, but in slang it means to eat much. "Tragón" is the adjective for the person who eats a lot. I have never heard it used for drinking (that would be simply "borracho" for me).

- Eres un tragón, ya te acabaste las galletas.
You're such a glutton, you ate up all the cookies.

- Ya no quiero ser tan tragona, estoy engordando.
I don't want to be a glutton anymore, I'm putting up weight.

- Me duele la panza por estar de tragón.
My belly hurts for being so greedy.
