Tu frase está bien, pero tiene razón tu amiga.
Es que ambas frases dicen cosas distintas:
Se les han terminado <todas> las galletas (sorta "they run out of cookies <,all kind>")
Se las han terminado, todas las galletas (sorta "they knocked off all the cookies" -there're only crumbs left-)
