Yes, but I thought the preterite should be used when saying you're talking to someone. The "I was talking" could also simply be said using "hablaba" without using the "estar"-verb, but I don't think the imperfect shall be used when saying you're talking to someone.

But I'm pretty new in the Spanish language myself, so yes, let's wait for someone who knows their way around it.
