Usar Futuro tiempo?

Por ejemplo:

Tomaré la medicina.
I will take the medicine.

They express ideas that are extremely similar; is one or the other preferred in Spanish?

Edit: I changed the direct object of the sentence; not sure if "tomar la bolsa" really works.
You're right:
Voy a tomar la medicina ahora.
Tomaré la medicina más tarde.

I don't know what "tomar la bolsa" means. take a handbag?
