I agree that it could just be a brand name. There are many restaurants that use that name. There are other products that use that name.

There are also famous people that are known by that name. This is why I thought it meant a particular area/region/place. There's a place in Bolivia or Columbia (I can't remember which right now) that is called Alteño. I believe I actually found alteño being used to describe someone/something from Los Altos de Jalisco. It's logical to assume that any place higher than another can be named Los Altos and anyone from Los Altos could be called an alteño.
