Okay, what about this grammar point

Vi (más o menos) esta frase en un libro...no me acuerdo exactamente como fue pero refiriéndose a las tonterías de su juventud, la autora escribió:

Las tonterias....no sabes lo caras que las pagué.

Entiendo la frase perfectamente (... you can't imagine how dearly I paid (for them) ) y por que es nativa y ademas una escritora celebrada y excelente, no la voy a criticar, pero no entiendo porque no escribió

....lo caro que (las) pagué.

¿Quizas alguién me lo puede aclarar?

Si esto te sirve Marsopa, creo que lo correcto es "una escritora célebre" en lugar de "una escritora celebrada"

"Lo caras que son" y "qué caras que son" son frases iguales. "Lo caras" es un dicho que significa "how expensive."
