¿Algunas correciones/sugerencias para este ensayo?

1st of all, please excuse the boring content; I was assigned a lame topic. Also, I'm conscious of this little essay's unnatural overuse of the future tense, but we were told to throw in that and the conditional wherever possible.

Cuando trato de pensar de cómo estará mi vida en cinco años, no veo nada definitivo. Creo que es mejor así; la vida da muchas vueltas y si se la planea con demasiada rigidez se le resultará más difícil cuando las cosas no salen como se esperaba.

Sin embargo, hay ciertas cosas de que sí estoy casi segura. La primavera venidera me graduaré de (....) y en el verano me mudaré a una de dos posibles regiones de (....) Allí estudiaré un programa posgrado del español, así que si todo sale bien, en menos de tres años habré obtenido una maestría y quizá, dentro de cinco años, un doctorado, aunque en este momento no estoy nada segura que quiera atentar éste.

Más allá de conseguir un título, realmente no sé con certeza absoluta que haré como profesión. He pensado en la posibilidad de enseñar inglés en un país hispanohablante por un tiempo, quizá en las tierras altas de Ecuador, cerca de la capital, donde casi siempre hace fresco y casi nunca calor ni frío. Sin duda alguna me gustaría hacer viajes frecuentes por el mundo hispano.

Lo más probable es que yo enseñe español aquí en los EEUU o después de enseñar inglés en el extranjero o en vez de hacerlo. Con sólo una maestría no podría conseguir un puesto con expectativa de permanencia en una universidad de cuatro años pero en una universidad comunitaria sí. Yo no tendría ningún problema en conformarme con eso.

Si hay algo de que estoy completamente decidida, es que de ninguna manera viviré en (....). Me muero de ganas de marcharme de este estado, aunque reconozco que tiene unas pocas características que seguramente extrañaré.

It was all perfectly formatted in Word, but copying and pasting messed some things up......pues, ¿qué les parece en cuanto a la gramática, la puntuación, el sentido, etc.?

Hola Gala--La mayoría me parece bien escrita y correcta. No soy experta pero estoy trabajando mucho en escribir y en la gramática ultimamente, pues veo dos errores posibles y a ver que dicen otras personas con más conocimiento.

Pienso que no se usa resultar como reflexivo.

Thanks for looking it over! I'm pretty sure that the first phrase that you mention is correct. It's not reflexive; it's the impersonal se combined with le as an indirect object. Or at least I think that's how you would grammatically define the le here: I just thought to use it because I've often heard it used this way with resultar. Ex: "Me resulta difícil/facil creer." The same as with parecer: "Les pareció extraño" (It seemed strange to them.)

For the 2nd phrase, were you thinking subjunctive, salgan rather than salen? That's how I originally wrote it, but I didn't feel quite right about it. I Googled "cuando las cosas no salgan/salen como" (one search for each conjugation) and got way more hits for the indicative. Most of the hits on the 1st page for the indicative phrase seemed to be in similar contexts to the meaning I wanted to convey, less so for the subjunctive hits. I'm still quite unsure on this one, though!

Yes, I was thinking salgan . . . but now not sure. I felt like "esperaban" gave it a need for subjunctive, but maybe imperfect subjunctive, or maybe indicative is okay since it might be considered a habitual action. Anyone else have an idea?

Oh, I was thinking "salgan" not for that reason, but because the verb is following a "cuando" referring to the hypothetical future. I think with esperar (and other verbs like it), the subjunctive is only needed if another conjugated verb follows it in a dependent clause, not when it precedes it in the same clause.

I'm still unsure if what I wrote was correct, though.
