Gastroesophageal Reflux (GER),
I ´ve been suffering from Gastroesophageal Reflux (GER), for almost two years now, and I have to be really careful with what I eat, I´m still madicated. One omeprazol every morning and until recently 3 motilium tablets one before each meal. the doctor supressed me the motilium and after one week, I began to feel all that terrrible buring pain in my esophagus every night especially in bed. I decided to take a motilium before dinner everynight and it works. I wonder if this medicine causes another desease in the long term. Does anybody know ? Or do you know any remedies to help me stop taking the medicine. Thanks

My husband suffers the same disease. Doctors have prescribed him a lot of medicines which have caused him polyps on the stomach. An alternative medicine doctor advised him to drink the juice of a small potato (licuada con una licuadora) a quarter before meals. It works.

I had this problem a couple of years ago, and apart from having a one-month treatment with omeprazol and a six-month treatment with two other medicines, my doctor made these recommendations that I still follow:
· Start some stress-handling activity (like exercising, a new hobby, etc.). · Avoid drinking/eating things that are either too hot or too cold. · Avoid coffee, animal fat, fried or spiced food, alcohol, chocolate, refined sugar... or anything that you associate with heartburn. · Eat fiber-rich food. · Never spend much time without eating: eat something (light as a piece of fruit or half a cup of yoghurt, nothing too hard to digest) as soon as you wake up, between formal meals and right before you go to bed. · Avoid drinking a big amount of liquid before you go to sleep. I think the most important part of this all is changing the way I ate, which has been a really difficult thing to do. (Over time, I have been able to include some "dangerous" food in small amounts and I tolerate it quite well.) The second hardest thing was to find time and start anti-stress activities. But it's been over one year that I don't have that problem anymore, and I'm finding it's worth the change... and a side-effect of it is that I've even lost some weight, which had always been a difficult task for me. My recommendation, apart from trying to change your way of life, is that you should ask your doctor about an endoscopy, or tests for any other source of the illness (not only the way you eat), so he can give you the right medication for it.

Nowadays I have that trouble with my stomach, but that kind to sickness are caused for the bad alimentation that nowadays we have in this new style life.
When you eat a lot of food with many condiments in the same ingredients that are made in the food, you tend to have troubles with your stomach and the acid that you have in your stomach tend to be dangerous for your own healthy. I suffer a lot of with my stomach when I eat food with a lot of condiments, then I try to eat more healthy, of course when you can do it, because when I'm traveling in anyplace, I have to eat the first that I find in the street and it's hardest to choice the correct food for your body. But the exercise help you to balance your metabolism. After the exercise is more healthy that when you only are watching the TV in your easy chair.
