Is it not something like "you got it" or "you are the one to do it" "the one to perform that role"? It's your turn, as in you are up... is like "te toca a ti"... but "te tocó la china" is like "you drew the short straw", therefore you have to perform the role... Just wondering aloud... Help us! And in the original example, no even straws or pebbles are used... it is by "dedocracia".

It when nobody wants to do something and you say , te tocó, without echarlo a suertes or following any criteria, it' s rather an imposition than a choice or a logical order. Maybe your number is up.
