Thank you! The argument was that somebody insisted that the rules a, b and c always applied to all crossings. My problem was that I didn't think the Spanish said that.

Well, the truth is one doesn't want to argue with a police officer who tells you not to cross at a certain moment, and you don't want to cross when a car or a train is just a couple of metres away from you, but it seems "normal" crossings will not make you ponder at such situations.
