What Did the Doctor Tell You?
I’m not sure how to respond to:
-Laura: And what did the doctor tell you? - Bobbert: To eat less. -Laura: ¿Y qué te dijo el médico? -Bobbert: Que coma menos. -Laura: ¿Y qué te dijo el médico? -Bobbert: A comer menos. The first response above comes to my mind, but Google Translate suggests the second response. Which is correct and/or used in everyday speech? If neither is correct, what is the correct response? |

"Que coma menos" is better.
Otherwise, I'd prefer something like: - Me mandó a comer menos. - Hay que comer menos. - (Que) tengo que comer menos. "A comer menos" is not wrong, but the construction is more common in Spain, like saying "let's eat less". In context, it will be understood, but not what is expected as an answer to the original question.
