Lambada
David expressou um desejo de aprender português. Pensei talvez que ele gostaria de ouvir uma canção, então pode aprender algo da pronunciação.
Goze! David expressed a desire to learn Portuguese. I thought maybe he'd like to hear a song, so he can learn something about pronunciation. Enjoy! Ligue ao vídeo (Link to the video): http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5AfTl5Vg73A Veja aqui as letras (Here are the lyrics): Chorando Se Foi (português) Chorando se foi quem um dia só me fez chorar Chorando se foi quem um dia só me fez chorar Chorando estará ao lembrar de um amor Que um dia não soube cuidar Chorando estará ao lembrar de um amor Que um dia não soube cuidar A recordação vai estar com ele aonde for A recordação vai estar pra sempre aonde for Dança, sol e mar, guardarei no olhar O amor faz perder encontrar Lambando estarei ao lembrar que este amor Por um dia, um instante foi rei A recordação vai estar com ele aonde for A recordação vai estar pra sempre aonde for Chorando estará ao lembrar de um amor Que um dia não soube cuidar Canção riso e dor, melodia de amor, Um momento que fica no ar Ai, Ai, Ai! He Left Crying (English) He who only made me cry one day left crying He who only made me cry one day left crying He’ll be crying as he remembers a love He didn’t know how to take care of. He’ll be crying as he remembers a love He didn’t know how to take care of. The memory will be with him wherever he goes The memory will be forever, wherever he goes Dancing, sun and sea, I’ll keep them in mind Love makes you lose and find. I’ll be dancing as I remember that this love, For one day, one instant, was king. The memory will be with him wherever he goes The memory will be forever, wherever he goes He’ll be crying as he remembers a love He didn’t know how to take care of. A song, laughter and pain, a melody of love, A moment that will never come again. Last edited by Rusty; May 26, 2008 at 08:33 PM. |

La lambada fue un baile muy famoso aquí.
En su día se criticó por "excesivamente" sensual. Ahora habría pasado sin pena ni gloria. Saludos |

Thoughts on Portuguese
After I'd become fairly proficient in Spanish I decided to have a crack at Portuguese. At first it wasn't too dificult but you do have to remember which words are the same, which change slightly and which are totally diferent, e.g. jardim (slight), janela (totally).
Then I found the pronouns dificult, and the subjunctive is worse than Spanish. Although gostar is more like the English to like than the Spanish gustar which comes out more like to be pleased by in English, but you still have to remember the diference though. What did surprise me though was that when I watched two different TV documentaries on indigenous tribes of the Amazon rainforest their Portuguese was more intelligible than that of Lisbon or Rio de Janeiro! Oh, well. Just go to a cockney "neighbourhood", or visit Belfast or go to Scotland, for the same kind of treat.

In northern Scotland you will hear the lovliest, softest and most melodic English you're ever likely to hear anywhere. The northern Scots could beguile you just by reading the telephone directory to you, I never tire of hearing it!
