Sentence Structure

People,

I ran across the following sentence a while ago: "Su tía compró el anel por él, para que le diera a su novia".

But I keep getting the feeling that the object could be mentioned in the second half of the sentence, after the comma. For example: "Su tía compró el anillo porél, para que "se lo" diera a su novia".

Is my modification natural?

Is it correct?

Too wordy?

Dean
