"...el cepillo de dientes que me compré..."

"...el cepillo de dientes que me compré..."

I also brushed my teeth with the toothbrush I bought. I read the newspaper and drank milk.

También me cepillé los dientes con el cepillo de dientes que me compré. Leí los periódicos y tomé leche.

I'm not sure about the first sentence because it sounds repetitive... Also, do I make "newspaper" plural in Spanish even though it is singular in English?
