[Russian] "Th" sound in Russian?

Hi everyone!

I was dabbling in Russian, trying to write English words in the Russian alphabet, and I encountered difficulty with words like "the", "they", "with" and such.

Is there a Russian equivalent for "th"?

The English words you wrote sport two different 'th' sounds, and Russian doesn't have either sound.

The spoken language is German, of course, but you'll need to come up with something similar for Russian. Try substituting с, з or ф.

Yeah, I considered using those letters, but I wasn't sure. Thanks!

I haven't had a chance to look at that link yet because the computer I am using won't open it, but as soon as I can, I'll get to a computer that does work properly!

Normally in Russia we pronounce "th" like з . But it's not totally correct. If you speak about /ð/ (for example they) sound it is right to put the letter з, but if you speak about /θ/ (for example thought), it has no equivalent. So we normally use з letter for both of this sounds.
