I've never seen 'bespoke' used like this before, but it seems ok to me.

My company makes bespoke software: it never occurred to me to question the use of bespoke in that context.

As a Northener where we have our own accent I have to say that I am shocked and appalled that Baltipal (from Dudley for God's sake!) has the effrontery to specify in his personal data that his native language is English!


I'm sorry - you have to be English to 'get' this little bit of inter-regional mickey-taking!

Perikles and pjt33 - that is the original meaning of the word, "Bespoke" means 'made-to-measure' tailoring originally.

Yes, I thought that is what I said . It derives from the verb 'bespeak' which meant 'to speak for, to arrange, to order' hence to arrange in advance when buying something.

That's not as annoying as being described as having a 'British accent'.
