I have to collect 'her' from school:
Tengo que recoger'la' del colgio.

I know for 'him', we can use ‘le’ as well as ‘lo’, but is it ever correct to use ‘le’ for a girl?

To me, in both cases would be leísmo.

Unless the RAE has changed its position recently, 'le' is not acceptable as a third-person singular feminine direct object pronoun. In this context, 'her' is a direct object; most educated speakers everywhere view only 'recogerla' as acceptable.

Let 'er go, boys! (to start the band to playing a tune for a square dance)
Thar she blows! (nautical)
Give 'er a try now (said by a Good Samaritan after having jumped-off a dead battery, for example)
and of course the famous Git 'er Done

Assuming they are all male, and we are still using a direct object pronoun, is the following correct:
Tengo que recogerles del colgio.

And if there is mixture of male and female, we need to use 'los'. Is this correct?

Again, to me it would be "leísmo".

Regogerlos, be them all males or a mix of males and females, now the difference would be if they were all females, in which case you would use "recogerlas"

According to the RAE's Diccionario Panhispanico de Dudas, 'les' for direct objects is not acceptable anywhere.

La regla general y recomendable es la siguiente. Todo cuanto oiga o lea que no se ajuste, se considera "solecismo" (incorrección gramatical). Algunos, por ser tan frecuentes, se "admiten" con ciertas restricciones. No obstante, le repito mis palabras anteriores: mejor siga las normales etimológicas.

Objeto directo:

-Lo (Persona, animal o cosa masculina singular)
-La (Persona, animal o cosa femenina singular)
-Los (Persona, animal o cosa masculina plural)
-Las (Persona, animal o cosa femenina plural)

Objeto indirecto:

-Le (Persona, animal o cosa masculina o femenina singular)
-Les (Persona, animal o cosa masculina o femenina plural)
