How to say the days of the week in Spanish!

Our calendars, here in Spain, show:

L, M, X, J, V, S, D

The "X" for Wednesday has a particular story behind. I read a long time ago cabdrivers popularized the "X" in order to express many of them rested during that day once a week. They placed a "X" on the car hood.
