Spanish vocabulary related materials

Hello there,
I have been learning English for many years using 'English Vocabulary in Use' series which I find absolutely brilliant. Apart from English, I also study Spanish, however I find the lack of comprehensive vocabulary-oriented materials disturbing (at least I couldn't find any). Most of the Spanish books that I have seen are, in my opinion, rather useless, as they only provide students with long texts and word lists.
I tried to look up Cambridge website for that matter and the only publication on Spanish vocabulary I found there seemed like a joke.

Therefore, do you know any reliable books on Spanish vocabulary? I myself posses 'Vocabulario activo' by F.C Bernal and I perceive it passable, though I am still looking for something better.

Do you have any information on the matter?

Thanks in advance
