Gureto - Cigar tip
Hi I love cigars but have only really smoked King Edwards. I thought I should try Romeo Y Julieta. I went on line to look at cigar cutters as these need to be cut.
I heard someone explaining about the tip of a cigar and he said in Spanish it is called a gureto. I think that is what he said. I have tried looking this up. If someone can correct me on this and give me an English translation that would be great. Thanks |

I didn't get any hits on 'gureto'.
I found that 'the tip of a cigar' is said, "El extremo de un puro/cigarro." A tip cutter is "el cortapuros" or "el cortador de puros." |

No you wouldn't get any hits on gureto that is what it sounded like.

Cubierto maybe? Sometimes Caribbean Spanish (Cuban for example) swallows syllables creating a kind of impressionist version of the language.

The tip of the cigar that has to be cut is "perilla".
I'll speculate here: The only thing I can think similar to "gureto" is "gorrito" ("little cap", like this one ). At first I'd say it's improbable you'd hear that, since that would be a word someone who knows nothing about cigars would use. Yet, I just found the word in English is "cap", so if the person was translating without using the jargon, it could be.
