Me da grima

Me da grima

From what I gather it means, it repulses me. It is used in Spain. Is it used in the Americas?

It may be used in Mexico, but it's probably now archaic or high register.
I've only heard old teachers use it.
It's a shame though, because "dar grima" is the closest idea I can find to something being cringeworthy.

These are some examples of how I learnt to use the expression:
- Fue terrible el discurso del candidato. Daba grima oír que no podía leer tres palabras seguidas.
- ¿No te da grima tener que pasar dos horas en el tráfico para ir a trabajar?
- Mi papá se emborrachó en la fiesta. Me dio grima que todos se rieran de él cuando trató de bailar sobre la mesa.
