¿Lésbica?

People,

I understand lthe words lesbianismo and lesbiana.

And I have come across the word lesbica. What is the difference? Is there some nuance?

And lesbico? Why does it end in "o"?

Dean

In one regard, lésbico is an adjective; its ending agrees with the masculine singular noun it modifies. If the modified noun is masculine plural, the plural form lésbicos is used. Modified feminine nouns take the forms lésbica and lésbicas, respectively.

The masculine forms can be found in noun phrases like «el amor lésbico» and «los derechos lésbicos».
The feminine forms appear in noun phrases like «asamblea lésbica» and «películas lésbicas».

On another note, the nouns lésbico, lésbicos, lésbica, and lésbicas are used to identify persons from Lesvos (or Lesbos), the third largest Greek island.

According to RAE the term for a native of Lesbos is lesbo.

@poli: Yes, according to RAE's webpage for lesbio or lesbia, it's the term for a native of Lesbos, when used as a noun.
According to WordReference.com, the noun lésbica or lésbico also refers to someone from Lesbos. I should have given them credit for the information. However, if what they state is wrong, I am also wrong.

It's not wrong. In the DRAE, "lésbico" is synonymous with "lesbiano", "lesbio" and "sáfico".
