A mí me tocó mi padre

I've to say I'm not sure I understand what the author means by saying "solo haríamos un regalo a una persona, nuestro amigo invisible; a mí me tocó mi padre"

The author has 2 elder brothers so I think that "decidimos" and "haríamos" implies the author and his brothers, but the whole phrase is vague and unclear to me.

Thank you,

It's like Secret Santa. They would probably selected their "friend" by sticking their hand in a bag and grabbing a piece of paper.

Thank you, aleCcowaN.

So before that in their family each family member bought presents for all family members. For example, the author bought a present for his father, a present for each of his brothers, etc. But then they decided that each family member would buy a present only for one family member. And the phrase "a mí me tocó mi padre" means that the author grabbed a piece of paper with his father's name.

Did I understand you correctly?
