Y me arrastrasen

What does "como si me arrastrasen" imply in this context?
As if the stories dragging me along with them somewhere?

Thank you.

In a very literal sense, yes. But, though I think this is way above my English level, I believe the author means that his stories acquire agency and lure him into developing them, in a sort of obsesive-compulsive way.

The mention of that film is not an accident, as there's a parallel here to be made with the themes in Kubric's Full Metal Jacket, known here as Nacido para matar, about indoctrination (brain washing) and dehumanization ... and about façades.

"Is that you John Wayne? Is this me?"

Whole scene - Caution: crass language and racial slurs

Doblado al castellano - Precaución: lenguaje grosero y epítetos racistas
