Difiere

I am having a little bit of a problem translating the word difiere and so am asking for help in figuring what the meaning might be in this sense:

I am okay with the rest of the sentence, but obviously this word is key for this translation.

Thanks
Gomey

Just to brainstorm

diferir may mean stem from, get apart from

at least here (no movement) it means

'at that point, the capsule and the membrane never merge together and are clearly distinguished'

I often translate diferir as to differ. It can also be translated to defer, put off, postpone. In this case, I would use independent of or separated from.

The pituitary gland is encapsulated in a thin but well-defined membrane, independent of the cavity's medial wall ...

diferir: In this case, it's differ from, saying its the same material but apperas/emerges.

The pituitary gland is encapsulated in a thin but well-defined membrane (who emerge/arise), independent of the cavity's medial wall ...
