This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for December 8, 2009

quitar (verb) — to take away, remove, get rid of. Look up quitar in the dictionary

Quita tus cosas de mi escritorio.
Take your things off my desk.

Le quité el cuchillo.
I took the knife from her.

Te quita el hambre pero no te alimenta.
It stops you feeling hungry but it isn't very nourishing.

El médico me ha quitado el vino.
The doctor has forbidden me to drink wine.

Te has quitado veinte años de encima.
Tou look twenty years younger.

Se quitaban el frío saltando.
They jumped up and down to keep warm.

¡Quítate el dedo de la nariz!
Stop picking your nose!

¡Quítate!
Get out of the way!
