Ceder

This is a discussion thread for the Daily Spanish Word for December 30, 2009

ceder (verb) — to transfer, cede, loan, give way, ease. Look up ceder in the dictionary

Cedieron las tierras al Estado.
They ceded the lands to the State.

Me cedió el asiento.
He let me have his seat.

Me cedieron una casa en el pueblo.
They gave me use of a house in the village.

Manténte firme y no cedas.
Stand your ground and don't give in.

El elástico ya está cediendo.
The elastic is starting to go.

Los zapatos están un poco apretados, pero ya cederán.
The shoes are a bit tight, but they'll give.
