For me a blanket is una manta, a faucet or tap is un grifo, a knob is un pomo o un tirador, a sink is un fregadero o una pila in the kitchen and un lavabo in the bathroom. For mop I say fregona and the verb would be pasar la fregona.

I thought "chapa de la puerta" was the lock ( padlock ) on the door or something similar.

As far as I know, a chapa refers to a lock on a door, and it may or may not have a knob on it (it might have a slider or a pull handle or something), but it would be a lock that is installed, not a padlock (candado).
