It means that you are past feeling (nothing bothers you as it should) or feeling pretty good about things, but unfortunately this feeling of euphoria is due to taking drugs. It is another way to say you're high. It is a false sense of happiness/security.
If we say we're numb to something, it can mean that we've seen it (or dealt with it) time and time again and it doesn't affect us anymore. But comfortably numb usually means that we've achieved the same effect through the use of drugs. |
