No, I didn't mean amount, but average (statistically). You said you read six pages a day. But I guess that it's not an exact amount, just approximate. I mean, one day you read five and a half pages; another day, you read six; and the other day, you read six and a half. It's quite difficult to say that I read exactly six pages. If you do, you can say "cada", but if you don't do it exactly, if you're reading the sixth page and the the sentence that you're reading follows in the seventh page, you're not being strict and you don't read exactly six pages. So I use average and statistics, for which "al/a la" is used.
