The conjugated verb "dije" already has the subject expressed. The fact that each pronoun has its own conjugation tells who the subject is.

"Le" is an indirect object pronoun for the third person singular.
@Joseph, Angelica is right. It will be awkward to say "yo dije...." in Spanish or Yo soy, yo estoy, yo tengo etc. Spanish grammar rules are just different from English, just like in the phrase "Le dije" the direct object "le" precedes the verb dije whereas in English the direct object comes after the verb as in "I told HIM"

Be carefull, in this situation:

-¡José me contó que le pegaste!
José told me that you punched him!

-No, yo no le pegué, fue Ramón.
No, I didn't, it was Ramón.

Using "yo" is not necessary, but here you want to remark that YOU have not punched José, so "yo" wouldn't be awkward as a way of stressing that. (I think that in this situation it would be the most common way)

- Fulanito... ¿Fuiste tú el que escribió esto?
-Sí, yo escribí eso.

-Presentense...
-Yo soy...

-Si, yo escribí eso.

-Presentense...

It seems that in this case "yo" is used for emphasis but it will still be understood without the "yo".

No... instead of the verb "ser" you have to use the verb "estar" (the one that marks the state of something) and then you have to use the gerund (in this case: escribiendo)

Sí, yo estoy escribiendo eso.

*I'm eating - Estoy comiendo
*I'm sleeping - Estoy durmiendo
*I'm ugly - Soy feo
*I'm strong - Soy fuerte
*I'm anxious - Soy/Estoy ansioso
(depending on the case, you can be anxious in a particular situation -estar- or it can be a permanent part of your being -ser-)

Thanks for giving me examples of the use of "que" without the stress mark.
