I think you are right, but to me el inglés sounds like the Englishman

Yo diría el inglés o posiblemente mi inglés. Creo que por el contexto no van a creer que hablas de una persona inglesa.

Es el inglés... You must guess the meaning by the context, as inglés can be both, Englishman and English language.

Yeah, you use "el inglés", "el holandés", etc., etc. But I forget it all the time as well .
