@ Irma.. Yes we are STILL discussing it!!!
Because we haven't found a satisfactory answer yet..

Cuídate!
I think it's only used as 'ni siquiera' , meaning ' not even'.

That sentence will be:

"Nunca he vivido cerca del mar, pero al menos / aunque sea lo he visto."

The most used way is with "ni", but not the only.

"no me saludó siquiera"
"she didn't even greet me"

It has many uses, see it in rae:

1. conj. advers. aunque. Hazme este favor, siquiera sea el último.
Hazme este favor, aunque sea el úitimo.
2. conj. distrib. ya. Siquiera venga, siquiera no venga.
Ya venga, ya no venga.

3.
adv. c. por lo menos. U. t. c. adv. m. Deme usted media paga siquiera.
Deme usted media paga al menos / por lo menos.
4.
adv. c. Tan solo. U. t. c. adv. m. No tengo una peseta siquiera.

This four forms(the third not to much) are common for me.
As Empanada said: "Ni siquiera" is translate as "not even"

Sorry I haven't gotten back to you YET. I am STILL getting my classroom ready for the first day of school next week.

Seriously, yes, for that sentence, you can say "I still haven't purchased my textbook."

¿cómo es escrito aun?

When it's use as "todavía", you write it with accent. When it's not, without it.
