A Mexicanism is a word, in our case, that is considered particular (isolated in use) to only Mexico. Mexicans use words that aren't recognized in Spain, and vice versa. In England you take a lift to get to your flat. In the States, we take an elevator to get to our apartment. In Mexico, a catarina can grace your flower petals. In Spain, it's a mariquita.
