It's spelled couldn't, but I imagine you already know that. Grammatically, it's fine.

Yes, grammatically speaking it is correct as ChilenoAlemanCanada said but maybe you meant to say "I couldn't distinguish the different breeds of dogs?"

A more colloquial way of saying the same thing is "I can't tell the dogs apart".
