Sentence Structure

People,

I ran across the following sentence a while ago: "Su tía compró el anel por él, para que le diera a su novia".

But I keep getting the feeling that the object could be mentioned in the second half of the sentence, after the comma. For example: "Su tía compró el anillo porél, para que "se lo" diera a su novia".

Is my modification natural?

Is it correct?

Too wordy?

Dean

You're right. "Se lo" would make the sentence much better.
Sometimes colloquial speech "saves" some words, and the resulting sentences are not what we are taught in grammar.

Angelica,

This is good news. I think that I am devloping some linguistic instincts in Spanish.

That's indeed great news. Just be confident.
