Somebody lives de la sopa boba when they don't work at all, and live in the house, doing nothing, and the rest work for you.

In English the phrase is to live off someone or something.
Example: He lost his job eight months ago, and now he's living off his girlfriend's salary.

I agree with you. To freeload and to mooch off seem like good translations for vivir la sopa de boba.
To mooch (without off) is a less passive action. (He's on the corner moochin' cigarettes).

Also, plainly, "to live at somebody else's expenses".
(In Spanish also "vivir del cuento"... or "ser un chupóptero") To be a sponger, scrounger...
