I'm in Mexico right now! ¡Estoy en México ahora mismo!

This past Wed. May 28th 2014 I flew 1,600 miles from Los Angeles, California to Leon,
Guanajuato. In the airport of Leon some friends picked me up and we drove around an
hour to Queretaro the capital city of the state of Queretaro. Queretaro is the 4th largest
city in the country of Mexico and about a 3 or four hour drive to Mexico City the largest
City in Mexico. I feel completely safe here. After spending two days in Queretaro(the cleanest
city in Mexico)I'm now in Salvatierra, Guanajuato not far from the border with the state of
Michoacan. The only thing that has attacked me are a few misquitos. Everyone is very polite
and super friendly. Estoy en total immersion Spanish. Nada de ingles. Salvatierra is a jewel
of a town of about 50,000 people. Life here is so different than in the U.S. People get
out and socialize. It's buenos dias here buenas tardes there. People take time to talk. Very
semilar to how it was when I lived in Italy. I feel safer here than in the U.S. Right now it's carnival time in Salvatierra so the people are more friendly than ever. There are churches and buildings here that date back to colonial times. 1600's. They say there are over one million Americans living in Mexico and I can see why. Having so much fun. BTW, I'm filming my adventures here in Mexico and will put it all on a DVD and make it available to
anybody on the forum. Good for learning Spanish and seeing Mexico. Thursday in Queretaro I was able to film a tour guide and he was explaining
the very interesting history of Queretaro in elegant Spanish. Queretaro and Guanajuato are very historical for the founding of the modern country of
Mexico. Also in Queretaro is where the French emperor Maximilan was executed by firing squad cerca 1860. Asi que mucha historia por aqui. I love the sound of the church bells. Just like Italy. (Writing from my phone. Not easy.

hahaha...Steve. Really wish you could be here. No se porque estoy escribiendo en inglese.
Any way so much for the fear of being in Mexico con the violence
y todo eso. Depends where you are. Mi amigo mexicano aqui en Salvatierra es policia
but right now he's on leave from that being the body guard of the mayor of Salvatierra.
He was telling me that Guanajuato is safe. Queretaro is safe because the mother-in-law
of the president of Mexico lives there so he made it known to the cartels to lay off. Also
very interesting is that the drug cartel bosses live in Queretaro and ironically make it safer.
Just things you hear commented.

Just returned from my trip to Mexico. No violence or problems.

Just returned from my trip to Mexico. I went to Leon, Guanajuato, Queretaro, Salvatierra, Guanajuato and other towns.
Had no problems with violence nor did I see violence. I made a two hour video of my trip on DVD if anybody is interested
in seeing it let me know. It's a good Spanish lesson plus you get to see Mexico.

Hola Dante. Send me your address and I'll send you a copy.
Could you do a review of it for the forum? It's all in Spanish.
Since you are the first to ask for it I'll pay for the postage.
