@Pino: "Nota" se refiere a la puntuación ("calificación" en México) en un examen, o un curso. Cuando dicen "cosas" que podrían bajar la nota, depende de los criterios del profesor, cuando los alumnos faltan a clases, entregan trabajos tarde, etc.; en esos casos, disminuyen los puntos para aprobar.

Pensé en algo parecido a 'se me cae el párpado' , frase hecha para decir que se tiene sueño.
El contexto, si no se brinda, hace emborrachar.
Las notas, la libreta de notas, los castigos por notas bajas.
