Quote or estimate

I have a question regarding the proper term in Spanish for obtaining a price for an expensive service to be rendered. An example would be if you own a home and need a new roof. You may want to obtain a quote or an estimate of how much laying a new roof would cost from various contractors. I assume the term is cotización, because it sounds like it has the same Latin root as quote. Is there a better term?
