Question Can you help me translate this please

"Ya exhausto, remontó un set que iba perdiendo 5-2 y se negó a caer hasta que los misiles de Nishikori no lo hundieran. "

(the context is the Nadal v Nishikori tennis match and i understand the start of the sentence and that 'los missiles' is a metaphor for shots/serves. I am having trouble with the last part 'no lo hundieran' and how that fits in)

The metaphor you mentioned carries on to the end of the clause.
Missiles, when fired, can sink a ship.

'hasta que' triggers the use of the subjunctive mood (hundieran) when the outcome is anticipated.

... refused to fall, until even Nishikori's missiles didn't sink him.
