Kodiak bear
Does "Kodiak bear" simply translates as "Oso Kodiak"?

Hmmm... por lo que veo, es un oso pardo común, que vive en la isla de Kodiak, así que probablemente yo diría "oso de Kodiak", pero seguro habrá alguien que sepa más.

Este tipo de oso pardo es muy grande. Se llaman "Grizzly bears" por aquí en EEUU. Este artículo en Wikipedia les llama "oso Kodiak" como has hecho.
