En EEUU es un día de fiesta federal. Significa que no hay servicio de correo y muchos bancos permanecen cerrados. En Nueva York hay un
desfile en la Quinta Avenida, y en Nueva York el día se asocia mucho
con italo-americanos y los políticos y la policia. A mi me parece un poquito aburridor, pero no soy un tipo que le encantan las marchas. Se celebre siempre en el segundo lunes del mes de octubre. El domingo anterior en
la misma avenida siempre presentan el desfile de la Hispanidad en que grupos de todos los paises de América Latina (hasta pequeñas delegaciones Paraguayos y Hondureños) y España están representados. Cada grupo presenta música, danza, y ropa típica de su pais. Puede ser impresionante. Hace años que no fuí. Sin embargo cada vez que voy lo encuentro divertido. La última vez que fuí, Perú y Bolivia destacaron. Les digo que tenían más exuberencia que Puerto Rico, Brasil, Repúbilica Dominicana y México combinados.

Es un excelente parte del año para los desfiles porque, o sea otoño,
todavía se siente un veranillo en el aire de la tarde, y no recuerdo un Columbus Day lluvioso.

Many years ago, it was celebrated in Mexico, but suddenly, after the 500th Anniversary, the government found out it didn't mean anything anymore and they quit remembering. Some schools hold small ceremonies.

Yes that is was mentioned before.

And well I know that is an American celebration about the Día de la Raza.

It's the I know about it.
