Mientras escucha/escuche

Mejorar su conocimiento de los políticos mientras escuche/escucha las noticias en camino (a casa)=Improve your political understanding while listening to the news on the way

Cuando dices "mientras escuche", es una condición (like as long as you listen...)

@Ookami: What if you want to know specifically about politicians' individual behaviour?

So, to stay on topic and avoid making it more confusing for gramatica:
Apart from the fact that "mientras escucha" is the needed conjugation for this sentence, ookami's translation is more accurate for the purpose of the English sentence.

Because in English, one could just say "on the way," meaning "on the way home" or "at the same time." ¿Es lo mismo en castellano?

Gracias
