Associate Degree
An associate degree is an academic degree awarded by community colleges, junior colleges, four-year universities, business colleges and some bachelor's degree-granting colleges/universities upon completion of a course of study usually lasting two years.
What is the best way to say "associate degree" in Spanish? Título universitario? Licenciatura?

Diplomatura me suena bien... gracias por la idea, pero tampoco estoy seguro... de ahí que mi pregunta siga ahí, en el aire... o en la web...

No existe en México un grado como ése, y aquí no se reconocería ningún título parecido (por lo tanto, difícilmente se le asignaría un nombre).
 Aquí un "pasante" es una persona que tiene todos los créditos de la carrera universitaria, pero no ha hecho los trámites para el título formal (examen de grado, tesis, tesina, o lo que aplique para cada institución), y es lo más que se reconoce de alguien que ha cursado materias universitarias. A las personas con carreras truncas sólo se les reconoce el bachillerato. Un diplomado es un curso específico, no forma parte de la licenciatura.
