Perillas
Trying to read thru a slow cooker manual. Would perillas be potholders?
No toque las superficies calientes. Use las asas o perillas. thanks |

I think the manual is wrong.
"Perilla" is rather used for things that turn. La perilla de la puerta. Las perillas de la estufa. A pot handle should be rather "asa", "agarradera", "mango" (when it's long like that of a pan)... As for the pieces of textile used to hold hot kitchen items, around here they're called "no-te-quemes", "guante para el horno" (when they're designed like gloves), "protectores para cosas calientes"... and sometimes also "agarraderas para cosas calientes".

slow cookers have the same lid knobs as the blue pot, so perilla would be the knob of the lid and the asas would be the handles of the pot
Is there any other word for lid knobs? |
