The capital of Bolivia

today someone challenged me when I said that the capital of Bolivia is La Paz. I'm sure that's correct, but can anyone help me out here. This person said the capital is sucre.

When I was a kid I learned "La Paz", but now I think I should say Sucre, because Bolivia has two capitals.
english: info: http://ask.yahoo.com/20020508.html

Sucre was the historic capital, but they had problems (1890) and the Legislativ and Executiv Powers moved to LA PAZ (the Goberment). Sucre retained only the Judiciary.
Now Sucre is trying to recover all the powers, and it's a big problem there.

La Paz has (with the neigbourgh El Alto) 1,6 million inhabitants, Sucre only 270.000.

Here is an article which says ¿Capital of Bolivia? depends.....
spanish:http://www.prensa.com/actualidad/rep...9/22/index.htm

At the end
Sucre, is the legal/constitutional (and judicial branch) capital of Bolivia
La Paz is the administrative and legislative capital of Bolivia (with the president and congress).

¿Wich one where you asking for?

Thanks for the info. I guess they are both the capital.

Strange. I wonder if any other countries have two capitals.
