In context, anything can be made out to mean a year.

No sé por qué, pero en Chile usualmente las sentencias son de tanto años y un día.

No sé si en el resto de los países hispanos se usa así también. ;-D

Hola:

Por acá se usa pirulos equivalente a años de edad. Es un término coloquial/familiar. Creo que en España usan de manera similar la palabra tacos.

Yo ya tengo sesenta pirulos, no estoy para esos trotes.

Mexicans don't have any equivalent of those words. Both "pirulos" or "tacos" may be understood in context, but not immediately.

But we may talk about "abriles" or "primaveras" when referring to years lived by young people (or to talk ironically about older persons).

- La hija de Roberto apenas tiene quince abriles.
- Hay que brindar por tus dieciocho primaveras.
- La tía Marta ya se quedó solterona; nunca, en sus cuarenta y cinco abriles, le hemos conocido un novio.

Para, "taco" dice:

27. m. pl. coloq. Años de edad. Tiene veinte tacos.

(Pero creo que el uso de "taco" es europeo... de España... ¿o se usa en otros sitios también?)

Los "abriles" y las "primaveras" también se usan en España... aunque creo que va resultando un poco anticuado...
