just thought i'd get to know people a bit more on here, i am from Scotland, and i'm trying to learn spanish on my own, so i'm glad i'm in the company of Spanish speakers!


anyway, anyone interested in football? soccer (for the americans)....i'm a big celtic supporter....I attend most matches.

who do you support? or enjoy watching.

We've gotten into soccer more and more over the last few years. Mostly we support our local club, the Columbus Crew. (MLS . . . the US's top professional league). We have a half-season ticket package this year (can't afford *every* game, but we'll go to at least 10 this season.)

I also support the US Men's team, of course. Though that loss to Mexico was tough to watch. Even when we had a 2-0 lead, it was quite obvious that Mexico had the far superior team that day.

No, no los conozco. Fútbol no es muy popular aquí. Es difícil seguir fútbol europeo en los Estados Unidos. Veo un poco de la EPL, pero no mucho.

(I haven't practiced my Spanish much since I was last active here, so that was probably pretty bad.)

Ah! Tricky. I always think of "El" as when I would say "the", and we wouldn't say "The soccer" here. But I'm happy I was that close!

English doesn't use an article when making a general statement, but Spanish requires it.

Soy de Inglaterra y apoyo Sunderland. Vivo en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos ahora, entonces no puedo ir a muchos juegos. Hoy es el comienzo de la Liga Premier y estoy muy emocionado! Todos los juegos son directo en televisión en los Emiratos Árabes Unidos, es fantástico! Hoy jugamos Liverpool - ¡dudo que va a ganar!

Hola a todos,

hoy hay un partido de fútbol que creo sea importante, pero no estoy seguro porque no sé mucho del fútbol latino. Entonces, es entre la Brasil y la España y es la cuarta eliminatoria para la Copa Mundial sub-20. Sé que éstos son equipos muy fuertes y que estos países son contrincantes. Yo querría saber si otros de ellos van a mirar este partido. Por desgracia, no sé donde se miran los partidos acerca de aquí. Me gustaría ir a un café y mirarlo con otros hinchas de fútbol, pero no hay de estos aquí. ¡Que haya un buen partido!
