Cuántos seremos

Si supiera cuántos seremos te lo diría.

Book: If I knew how many of us there will be I would tell you
I: If I knew how many of us we are going to be / will be ( I'm not sure here ) I would tell you

Am I wrong? Thanks.

Go with the book.

"...how many of us will be there..." is an option, but it includes words
not actually in the original sentence.

Yes, 'there' is not in the original sentence and my teacher wants the sentences as literal as possible.

Hermit te dijo sobre eso porque en inglés "Si supiera cuántos seremos te lo diría."= "If I knew how many of us there will be I would tell you."

Literalmente If I knew how many of us there will be I would tell you." = "Si supiera cuántos habremos te lo diría." lo cual en castellano presenta un problema.

Me imagino que es el mismo problema en inglés cuando tú tratas de traducir "Si supiera cuántos seremos te lo diría." = "If I knew how many of us we are going to be / will be I would tell you".

Correcto?

En Chile decimos en tono de broma "somos todos los que estamos y estamos todos los que somos"

By the way - in the present, you can say something like: "How many are we?"

Irmamar, I understand of being "literal", but I don't think you should have a problem with "there" there. In other words, "There are 3 books on the shelf" in Spanish is "Hay 3 libros en el estante". "How many of us there will be" "per the book" is the way one would say it.
There you are: what did I tell you? = ¿ves? or ¡ahí tienes! ¿qué te dije?
(Incluso si quieres ser 'literal', y decir que "there" es "ahí", aunque esa palabra no esté explícita en español, el concepto sí que está [ahí] implícito.)

Hello Irmamar.

Just this is my attempt with your ask above it.

If I knew how many will be us, I will tell you.

I'm not very sure, but I tried to translate it.

Yes, I know that "there is" means "hay", but I thing there's a difference between "how many of us we are" and "how many of us whe are there"; I mean, it's not the same "cuántos de nosotros hay" and "cuántos somos". But well, that must be the way of saying that.

Thanks everybody.
